Petition – Parliamentary Inquiry

Here’s how you can help get the government to RETHINK THE LINK!

We’ve drafted a petition to the Legislative Council to hold a parliamentary Inquiry to investigate the economic, social and environmental benefits of the alternative proposal for an Outer Harbour development in comparison to the Perth Freight Link project.

Please download the Perth Freight Link – Petition and gather as many original signatures as you can (no faxes, no emails), then get them to the address on the bottom of the page BY MONDAY 10 AUGUST 2015!

Here’s what the petition says:

PETITION IN RELATION TO THE SUSPENSION OF THE PERTH FREIGHT LINK PROJECT
To the President and Members of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Western Australia in Parliament assembled. We the undersigned residents of Western Australia support the suspension of work (meaning physical works and the awarding of contracts for physical works) on the Perth Freight Link project due to the lack of a clear or transparent plan forward. We do not believe that there has been enough evidence or transparency around decision-making to support State and Federal Government’s large expenditure on this project. Claims regarding the economic benefits of the proposed Perth Freight Link cannot be verified as important documents such as the business case and the Metropolitan Freight Transport Network Plan have not been publicly released. In addition, there is no evidence that viable alternative proposals have been properly assessed or evaluated. Your petitioners therefore respectfully request the Legislative Council support the development of a Legislative Council Inquiry investigating the economic, social and environmental benefits of the alternative proposal for an Outer Harbour development in comparison to the Perth Freight Link project. And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray.
