Murdoch University staying quiet over loss of land?

While the student body in general appears to stand behind other environmental issues such as the anti-fracking movement that has swept the country (a bloody great movement), the question remains if there is any awareness by the student body - particularly the Veterinary Sciences department - over the potential loss of land that it will incure as a result of the current planning for the Roe 8 section of the Perth Freight Link? This beautiful section of land is at risk of vanishing for a road that serves no actual purpose other than to 'provide better access to Fiona Stanley Hospital, or more specifically - southern access', a subject which has been covered here recently on this blog.

The majority of the maps released to date do not properly illustrate the new road developments that will effect the surrounding areas of the proposed highway, however this map available from the Main Roads website does at least touch on the subject while many just omit it completely.

Perhaps the Roe 8 / Perth Freight Link hasn't fully blossomed in to the kind of movement that attracts the limelight necessary to create a following on campus, however the question remains as to why there has been NO comment, or even acknowledgment from Murdoch University or the various student operated departments on this sensitive subject? Maybe comments have been issued, however taking in to consideration the gravity of the subject, one would think an opinion could be easily found online - it is not.

Has word come down from Mayor Aubrey or the City of Melville? Is Murdoch forbidden to have an opinion? Why have they said nothing over this; it just doesn't add up - and it smells funny.

What's up Murdoch? Do you agree with Barnett's comments that better access is needed to access the University? Is it worth losing your land over?
